Boho Basement

Renovation + Remodel
Budget: $6k
Duration:
5 months

When we moved into our house, the basement was untouched from the 70s. Equipped with faux wood paneling, drop ceiling and a funky tiny half bath. The space was considered finished but we only used it for storage. So we decided it was time to update.

We started by making a list of functions that it needed to serve; entertaining, storage, laundry and a bathroom.

Bathroom

What was once a dated half bath, we expanded to a full. By moving the side by side laundry to a stackable next to the stairs, we were able to fit a 4'x3' shower and a storage closet.

Fireplace

This wall was blank and in dire need of something. We felt a functional focal point could help to create a more intimate setting, so we used a horizontal shiplap to tie the texture into the stairs. Adding a frame tv, mantel and electric fireplace to complete the entertaining space.

Stairs

These stairs were lacking and the space underneath was too exposed, after moving the laundry next to the under stairs, we decided to add built in cabinets for laundry storage and finish the look with shiplap paired with a vertical slat wall. We love how this turned out!
